Drug Detox Services

What To Expect from Detox Services?

The Blanchard Institute’s premier Withdrawal Management program (also referred to as Outpatient Detox) provides clients with a safe, affordable, and accessible pathway to reclaim their lives from addiction. Understanding that the first step is often the most daunting, our expert-guided approach addresses the natural concerns people have when beginning their recovery journey. Many individuals entering detox worry about what the process will entail, particularly regarding medical supervision and potential discomfort during withdrawal.

Our Withdrawal Management program demystifies this critical first phase by providing comprehensive medical oversight and safe symptom management in an outpatient setting. Unlike attempting detox alone, clients receive professional support that recognizes detoxification as the process of allowing the body to rid itself of substances while carefully managing withdrawal symptoms. This medically supervised approach ensures safety while paving the way for the essential follow-up treatment that addresses the underlying causes of addiction.

The Blanchard Institute understands that addiction doesn’t develop overnight, and recovery requires more than detox alone. Our family-focused treatment philosophy recognizes that substance use disorders affect entire family systems and often co-occur with mental health conditions. While detoxification serves as the crucial foundation, our comprehensive approach ensures clients are prepared for the behavioral-based therapy and ongoing support necessary for lasting recovery. Through our dual accreditation from The Joint Commission and CARF, clients can trust they’re receiving the highest standards of care as they take this vital first step toward healing and long-term sobriety

Why Choose Our Detox Program?

By choosing The Blanchard Institute’s drug detox program, clients can experience several benefits, including:

  • Recovery in a controlled environment – Sometimes it is necessary to be monitored 24/7 by a nurse and doctor. While that is not a service that we provide, since we are an outpatient clinic, we do have relationships with the leading providers in the area.
  • Medically assisted treatments – Medically assisted withdrawal is important so you don’t have any further consequences to your physical health. Detox is a difficult time both mentally and physically, and our medically assisted detox can help you through the process with as little discomfort as possible and allow you to keep dignity and be respected during the process. This is something that must be managed under the care of a doctor and could be deadly if attempted alone.
  • Personalized treatment regimens – Our team will customize our treatment programs after detox is attended to meet the needs of the client, including cognitive therapy, life skills coaching, and more. We also offer a range of integrative health treatments to help ease the recovery process including yoga, acupuncture, bio sound therapy, EMDR, and sound therapy.

Drug Detox Treatment Options

Vivitrol Treatments

A long-lasting monthly treatment, Vivitrol is effective in reducing the physical withdrawal symptoms of and cravings for opioids and alcohol.

Methadone Treatments

Often taken daily, methadone is a synthetic opioid that helps to reduce opioid withdrawal symptoms while discouraging the use of other opioids by blocking a portion of the opioid receptors in the brain. The dosage of methadone can be slowly reduced to help wean clients off of opioids.

Suboxone Treatments

Effective for opioid dependence, Suboxone combines buprenorphine, a synthetic opioid with minimal euphoric effects, with naloxone, an opioid antagonist, to help control withdrawal symptoms while making other opioids less effective, discouraging their use. Suboxone can also be used to wean clients off opioids, and it can be taken at home, unlike methadone, eliminating the need for daily clinic visits.

These treatments are combined with structured treatment, cognitive therapy, and other treatments in our controlled environment to give clients the tools they need to abstain from drug use and begin the recovery process. Detox clients are monitored closely and receive professional medical care as needed by outside physicians.

Stages of Drug Detox

Stage 1: Experimenting

Experimentation, defined as the voluntary use of drugs without adverse social or legal implications, is frequently acceptable or even encouraged, particularly among young individuals. The person taking the substance sees this instance of becoming high or intoxicated as a one-time experience, not realizing that this is precisely what sets the downward spiral of addiction in motion. Many people will just stop using it on their own.  However, that’s not the case for everyone. Some individuals have issues with stopping. That’s where they start to move up the chain of stages.

Stage 2: Consistent Use

For many people, stage two signifies a fork in the road.  Some people are able to use drugs and alcohol regularly and not establish an addiction. However, this is pretty rare. The chances of going up in stages drastically increase with consistent use. The occasional drink or substance becomes a habit, like sleeping or brushing your teeth. Substance usage simply becomes another part of the routine. During this stage, some people may feel guilty or ashamed about their behavior, but they will generally continue to justify or make reasons for it.

Stage 3: Use at High Risk

The boundary between regular and high-risk usage is relatively thin, but it is commonly characterized as continuing to use drugs or alcohol despite serious social or legal consequences. What began as a temporary kind of distraction from reality has now taken precedence over other aspects of your life. Cravings become terrible. In fact, they are so bad that they may lead you to do things you otherwise wouldn’t have done.

Stage 4: Addiction

This is the final stage. This is when you know you are hooked. When you don’t get the substance, your body lets you know with symptoms such as shaking, sweating, tremors, and other frantic behavior. At this stage, your body feels as if it needs the substance to survive. However, that’s where we come in. We are here to help you overcome the addiction and get your life back. Most people don’t want to admit they have had a problem. But, if you have found yourself on our page, you are probably looking for our drug detox services.

The Blanchard Institute understands these different stages. We have experience in helping those through drug detox with the assistance of medication. Our team of experts is knowledgeable but also compassionate about their work. We understand this is a terrifying time for some and want to help in all aspects.

Withdrawals To Expect

  • Goosebumps
  • Aches in the bones
  • Anxiety
  • Shaking
  • Yawning
  • Restlessness
